9th International Symposium on Pseudokarst

Pseudokarst forms - scientific, natural and cultural importance, evaluation and protection
Bartkowa, Beskidy Mts. (Poland), 24-26 May 2006


The Symposium was held on 24-26 May 2006 in the central part of the Beskidy Mountains, Outer Carpathians - the flysch mountains abounding with non-karst caves developed mainly due to gravitational movements of mountain slopes.
Accommodation and sessions took place in Recreational-Educational Centre "Bartek" in Bartkowa on the Rożnów Lake near Nowy Sącz. In the Symposium participated 60 people (with organisers which also presented lectures and attended the sessions), among which 44 were scientific participants, whereas 16 - accompanying persons. The participants represented the following countries: Austria, Czech Rep., Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain.
30 oral lectures and 2 posters were presented, plus 1 presentation of sponsor, plus four slides' presentations from Iceland, Russia and Bohemian Paradise.
Different types of non-karst caves and other curiosities of inanimate nature specific for the region were presented during the Symposium field sessions.
